Feralco and Novacid join in Feracid, a new company, to build a production unit of ferric chloride with a capacity of 50,000 tons which will start production during the 2nd quarter 2011. This unit will help meet the growing demand for high-performance inorganic coagulants, particularly in the treatment of wastewater.
The Feracid unit will be built on the chemical platform of Pont de Claix (Isère county), where Novacid offers an important source of hydrochloric acid, a key product in the manufacture of ferric chloride.
Through this joint investment, Novacid realises an important step in its strategy of diversification downstream of hydrochloric acid and Feralco strengthens its position as a major European actor on the market for water treatment products.
Novacid is a major player in the European hydrochloric acid and derivatives market. Novacid is part of the Novacap group, based in Lyon, which also includes companies Novapex (phenol, acetone, isopropyl alcohol (IPA)) and Novacarb (carbonate and bicarbonate of soda, sodium sulphate).
