Filamentous bacteria

An excessive development of filamentous bacteria can lead to difficulties in settling, or foaming phenomena, and lead to a deterioration in quality of the treated water.

The conditions favoring the development of filamentous bacteria are numerous : high sludge age, low temperatures, low oxygen content, presence of anoxic or anaerobic zones, malfunction of a degreaser, etc ...

Quick and effective results can be achieved through  an adjustment of the parameters (extraction of sludge, aeration and other) usually completed by an oxidative treatment, which is not without negative impact on all bacteria.

Feralco has developed specialty products - combined salts of aluminum and iron - used in "shock" curative treatment or in continuous preventive treatment, enabling a balance to be quickly restored within the purifying biomass.
